Antique Sterling top  round shape cut glass tooth brush holder.

Holder measures    7″  HT   x   1  1/2 ” in diameter.

The glass  is    1/8″  thick.

Pattern of the cut glass is a “squaty” octagonal shape.

Great condition, no monogram.

Sterling top with shield, flowers and plume design.

Gold Wash inside top, with air holes so the brush will dry out.

Stamped on sterling rim “STERLING  161 “.

Circa:  Early 1900’s

Wear commensurate with age and use.

  • The first American to patent a toothbrush was H. N. Wadsworth, (patent number 18,653,) on Nov. 7, 1857.
  • Mass production of toothbrushes began in America around 1885.
  • One of the first electric toothbrushes to hit the American market was in 1960. It was marketed by the Squibb company under the name Broxodent.
