Impressive 14 karat yellow gold cross pendant measuring 4 1/2 " x 2 3/4 " wide x 1/4 ", with bail length is about 5 ". The cross has a bezel-set Square Amethyst stone with a rope design around the bezel. Amethyst weighs approx. 6.50 carats. Around the cross is a rope design with the front surface texture. The knob (on the bottom of the cross) twist to open a Hidden Compartment on the back panel of the cross, contains a few amethyst nuggets. (wonder what it use to hold?) Circa: middle of the 20th Century. Cross weighs 77.10 grams, or 2.47 Troy ozs. Stamped on the back of the cross " ECCLESIASTICAL ART CO. N.Y. " Stamped inside bail ring " 14K ". Fabulous condition. Comes in it's velour box. Wear commensurate with age and use.
